A devoted daughter and aviation enthusiast, Julie vanished without a trace on January 23, 2024, after leaving her mother’s home in Elk Grove, CA. Her tan 2005 Toyota Camry, still bearing Georgia license plates, has yet to be found. “Julie left everything behind—her phone, her purse, even uncashed checks—and simply disappeared,” says Jared Leisek of the AWP team. “It’s a case full of questions, and her family deserves answers.” The team is scouring the waterways between Elk Grove and Walnut Grove, using sonar and diving equipment to locate submerged vehicles that could hold the key to solving her disappearance. 🎬.. Among them: John Atkins (Missing Since 1973) A hardworking salesman, John disappeared while driving his company vehicle, a GMC Sprint, along the Sacramento River. Did a heart attack send him careening into the water, or did something else happen that night? His children, who were young at the time of his disappearance, are now adults still searching for answers. Norma Houghland and Her Sons (Missing Since 1978) Norma and her boys, Thomas and Richard, were last seen heading out for a drive in their 1965 Pontiac LeMans. Known to take scenic drives along River Road to escape the summer heat, they too vanished without a trace, leaving behind untouched belongings and unanswered questions. Karmen Neilson (Missing Since 2016) Karmen disappeared while driving her silver Honda Civic southbound on River Road. Her case remains unsolved, with little information available to guide the search. But stay tuned... coming up on Day 4, we find Karmen underwater in her car. Each story represents a family left in limbo, and each submerged vehicle holds the potential to bring long-awaited closure. With the help of A1 Towing, the team is pulling vehicles out of the water at no cost to the families or authorities involved. The effort highlights a community-driven approach, with local law enforcement, the Courtland Fire Department, and volunteers pitching in to make the Delta safer and cleaner for everyone. “Every vehicle we remove is one less contaminant in the river,” Jared notes. “We’re making the water cleaner, the environment healthier, and the community stronger—all while working toward finding the missing.” Adventures with Purpose is dedicated to solving cold cases involving missing persons.
