SANDY BRANCHES TO BACK PORCH FIRST TIME! 🎉 HITS MAJOR MILESTONE! 💗 Big Bear Eagles FOBBVCAM 6.2.26

Shadow starts off by feeding Luna first, then Sandy approaches and he feeds both eaglets. Shadow still loves to feed his kids!! Luna will back away first and lie down while Sandy gets a few more bites of fish. Sandy will do a PS (lighten the load before this big milestone) and head over to to where Luna was lying. Sandy then hops up on the back porch and officially branches for the first time at 59 days old! Great milestone to reach! Branching is when a young eaglet takes its first steps off the nest and onto a branch. Branching usually occurs in the 8th - 9th week of age and is the prelude to fledging. Sandy stays on the back porch for nearly a minute before making a dismount. Not a 10 but it was well done! Sandy does some wingers afterwards too. Sandy and Luna will first branch to one of the easier branches in the nest tree but as they become more proficient & confident, they will explore other branches such as the front porch, the high perch, the attic and the Y branch. Another interesting tidbit is that one year ago today, Sunny fledged so Sandy is right on target. Fledging normally occurs between 10-14 weeks of age. Will Luna branch to the back porch soon?
