Description
Charlottesville, August 12th, 2017. Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old woman, is killed by a ram-raiding car ploughing into the crowd in the middle of confrontation between white supremacists and counter-demonstrating antifascists. As these scenes of astounding violence unfold in front of American cameras, the country’s entire racist past resurfaces, and with it the ghost of the Ku Klux Klan, the oldest and most famous terrorist group in the United States.
The Ku Klux Klan is a secret organization that became notorious thanks to easily identifiable imagery, mysterious names, and a set of strange rituals. From burning cross ceremonies to the infamous robes and pointed hoods, experts will help us decipher all the codes, rites, and other symbols of the KKK.
Beyond the folklore, this documentary will explain how this organization, now a symbol of racial hatred, was born, and take a deep look into the three main stages of the Klan: Its origins, the interwar years, and the 1960-70s.
For the last 150 years, all iterations of the KKK have claimed loud and clear that the white race is superior, spreading terror across the U.S. and stopping at no form of violence to impose their law.
This documentary features magistrates and former FBI agents that have fought the Ku Klux Klan and who will explain how it became the number one terrorist organization in the United States.
Finally and thanks to the exclusive testimony of a reformed ex-member, we will attempt to grasp what today’s KKK looks like and what its objectives are.
From its creation in the 19th century in the wake of the Civil War to its resurgence in the 2000s right after the election of Barack Obama, the first Black president, this is the story of the Ku Klux Klan, the oldest and most famous racist and criminal organization in the United States.
