Today I’ll show you how to cut & stitch this cute pink textured crop top with layered tulle puff sleeves and a gathered skirt with tulle hem — short, clear steps you can follow exactly like the picture. Materials • Main fabric (textured jacquard or cotton) ~0.6–1 m • Soft lining (optional) ~0.5 m • Soft tulle/net for puffs & hem ~1.5–2 m total • Elastic for skirt waist (1”) • matching thread • 2 narrow shoulder straps (fabric or ribbon) • scissors, pins, sewing machine Measurements to take Chest • Top length (underarm to desired crop) • Strap length • Waist • Skirt length (waist → hem). Add 1 cm seam allowance and 2 cm hem. Cutting (follow the image) 1. Top front: cut on fold — rectangle shaped to chest and chosen top length. 2. Top back: cut 2 pieces with a small center opening for easier wear (or add button/snaps). 3. Straps: 2 strips (2–2.5 cm wide) × strap length + SA. 4. Tulle puff sleeves: cut several long tulle strips (width 12–15 cm) — each sleeve needs 3–4 layers to get the full puff. Length of each strip ≈ armhole circumference × 1.5 (for gathers). 5. Skirt: cut a gathered rectangle — width = waist × 2.5–3 for fullness, height = desired skirt length + hem + waistband allowance. 6. Tulle hem: long tulle strip width 12–15 cm, length = skirt hem circumference × 2 (for full, flouncy ruffle). Stitching — Top (short & exact) 1. Sew front and back at shoulder seams; finish raw edges. 2. Attach lining if using (sew lining to neck & armholes then understitch). 3. Attach straps: topstitch straps to front then to back (or secure with small topstitch at shoulder). 4. Make tulle puffs: gather each tulle strip on long edge, stack 3–4 gathered layers, baste them together and shape into a ruffle “puff.” 5. Hand- or machine-stitch each puff onto the outer edge of the strap/armhole as shown (so the strap sits center and puff spills over the shoulder). 6. Finish side seams and hem the bottom of the top (narrow fold or include lining for clean finish). Stitching — Skirt (short & exact) 1. Finish raw edge of skirt top; run two lines of basting stitch along the top and gather to match the waist measurement. 2. For waistband: fold top to make a casing, stitch leaving a small opening; insert elastic, join ends, close opening. OR attach skirt to a separate fabric waistband that matches the top waist and fasten at back if preferred. 3. Attach the tulle hem: gather the long tulle strip lightly and stitch it to the inside/underside of the skirt hem so a full tulle ruffle peeks out (or topstitch on the outside for visible layered look). 4. Turn and stitch final hem if needed; press seams. Finishing touches • Even out gathers, trim loose threads, press gently. • Check strap length on the child and adjust. • Optional: add a small bow or pearl at strap junction for decoration.
