Australia Is Slowly Drifting North

Australia sits on its own tectonic plate and that plate is constantly moving north due to pressure deep inside the Earth. While seven centimeters sounds small it adds up fast on a geological scale and even affects modern technology. GPS systems slowly drift out of alignment because the land underneath them keeps shifting. That is why Australia had to adjust its national coordinates by more than a meter.
