US Troops will face 'fast moving guerilla force' if Trump decides to invade Iran

US President Donald Trump is thrashing out plans for a ‘boots on the ground’ operation in Iran this week as experts have warned it would be a "quagmire involving casualties". American ground combat troops are building up in the region even though US officials claim they are there to leverage ‘settlement’ talks with Iran, not to expand the war. It is believed an operation to free up the Strait of Hormuz maritime chokepoint would concentrate on Kharg which lies off the coast of Iran and is strategically placed. And it comes as Israel has hammered Iranian infrastructure with airstrikes, loud explosions heard in the early hours across Tehran and in other major cities. Trump has declared he would like to “take the oil” from Iran in his latest outburst, whilst claiming the US has held “very good” peace talks with Iran, as a settlement looks increasingly remote.
