Posh town at war with new parking meters which suffer 40K vandalism | SWNS

Residents of North Berwick are locked in a row over new parking meters after vandals caused about £38,000 worth of damage before they were even switched on. Around 30 of the 40 machines installed by East Lothian Council have been smashed, sprayed with graffiti, or glued shut. The meters, due to introduce paid parking after 45 minutes free, were delayed until April amid strong local opposition.
