Autralian Raven Lunatic Water Logged

once again early in the 13th week a surprise visit not only found Marcel in the yard but found him standing knee deep [ if ravens have knees ] in the bird bath that the home owner kindly keeps filled with fresh water for the local fauna.know his penchant for the stream of water that comes from hose i decided to see if he was up to a shower & as expected Marcel came running as soon as the water hit the ground.he can be seen on the outer edges of the shower then he seems to disappear however he has just gone further into the water,the end result is a very wet bird.as usual Marcel then moves off into a reasonably dry area in order to give himself a bit of a shake followed by the wing flap on the spot whilst turning in circles which he also tries doing while standing on a small stack of slabs however his attempts to turn on the spot are less successful with Marcel almost toppling from the stack.he then flies to the top of one of the garden arches next to where the hose was on however once drenched poor Marcel loses his good looks not unlike some cats and small fluffy dogs Marcel's feathers lose that fullness particularly around his head/crown area.sometimes he looks like a monk and other times he looks like a buzzard or vulture as is the case on this occasion and after a short time Marcel flies off again only to land on the back of a wrought iron chair which is part of an outdoor garden setting & once there his new look is very obvious. Marcel was found on the ground in the last week of july after a very stormy night,after ringing a few places i was instructed to take him to specific vet surgery where i was advised that he was a raven,healthy,unlikely to have fallen to ground & he was a fledgling & " should be returned to where he was found his parents will look after him ". unfortunately this was not the case and it was 4/5 days before the parents came near him,he also had a talon missing from a rear toe that became quite swollen & infected in the weeks that followed needing treatment,it was paw paw ointment that cleared it up after having no success with other conventional treatments.Although the only sure fire way to accurately identify the gender of a raven is by blood/dna test Marcel has been declared a male for a number of reasons with the primary one coming from my 15 yr old daughter who has declared that " that bird has to be a male.because its just so annoying " fortunately she avoids Marcel otherwise he might think his name is/was " stupid bird " admittedly the poor kid was swooped by a maggie as a five year old & it appears that it has left her quite scarred.
