Today, I finally attempt to cross the Tajikistan border again after being forced to turn back earlier due to bad weather. This time, everything feels perfect — clear skies, stunning landscapes, and the ideal conditions to make it through. The border crossing itself goes smoothly, and I spend over an hour riding through No Man’s Land, surrounded by the unreal beauty of the Alay Mountains. By the time I officially enter Tajikistan, the sun is already setting, and I start rushing towards the first village with any sign of habitation. But as darkness approaches, the situation quickly turns risky. Water levels have risen, and I’m forced to attempt a dangerous water crossing. Midway through, my rear tyre gets stuck in loose gravel inside the stream — and my clutch plate gives up completely. At 4200 meters, in the middle of nowhere, this is possibly the worst thing that could happen. I try pushing the motorcycle, but the altitude makes it impossible to continue. With no options left, I decide to set up camp beside the road — only to later realize that the fence nearby is the China border fence. As night falls, border patrol arrives and asks me to move. What follows becomes one of the most misadventurous and frightening nights of my entire journey. What happens next? We’ll find out in the coming episodes.
