Description
The worst of the weather is shifting north, but more heavy rain, snow and strong winds are expected over the next 24 hours.
The Red Heavy Rain Warning for parts of Marlborough and Canterbury is due to lift at 6am Wednesday, although rain will continue across both regions throughout the day. Heavy snow warnings also remain in place for Milford Rd, Lindis Pass and the Crown Range.
Attention is now turning to the lower North Island, where heavy rain watches are in place for Wairarapa and parts of central and eastern regions, while strong wind watches have been issued for Wellington and Taranaki from Wednesday evening.
A fresh Heavy Rain Watch has also been issued for coastal Otago as another band of rain moves in.
MetService says there is a good chance some North Island watches could be upgraded, urging people to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings.
