Description
If you conducted a poll (or just asked Gemini) which were cinema’s most famous Ford Mustangs, then I think the top two answers would be pretty clear. Steve McQueen’s Highland Green example from Bullitt and Nicholas Cage’s Eleanor, the 1967 Shelby GT500 from Gone in 60 Seconds.
In this episode we get behind the wheel of the very first Eleanor Gone Again, a continuation car with a difference. You see, while there have been other Eleanor recreations, this one comes from the very workshop and people that built the original cars for the 2000 film. If anyone is capable of creating a bit of movie magic then it is Cinema Muscle Recreations.
Three engine options are being offered for the 25 that will be built, but under the bonnet of car number 1 is a supercharged Coyote V8, putting out 830bhp and 660lb ft of torque through a six-speed manual. Go baby, go! Thankfully, because this is a company used to providing cars for stunts, they also know how to prep an old car to cope with those sorts of numbers and there are plenty of parts from Total Control Products who also supplied kit to the original film cars.
As well as driving Eleanor Gone Again, we also chat to Ray, Randy and Sam about their history of putting everything from Herbie the Love Bug to the General Lee on the silver screen. They also show us some of the original pieces of bodywork from the Gone in 60 Seconds cars and tell us a few stories from behind the scenes. Randy also reveals another car he’d love to do a continuation of… shake and indeed bake.
