The KC-135 Elephant Walk

Strategic Air Command in the 1980s often ended their Base and Wing large exercises with an “Elephant Walk”, a large formation of aircraft taxiing to the end of the runway for takeoff. The Minimum Interval Take Off, or MITO, was always impressive with bombers and tankers taking off at twelve-second spacing. Our Wing always departed for Colorado, arriving there at night near Pueblo.
