Luxury resort sighting fuels hunt for rapper linked to deadly Surry Hills underworld hit

For months, his whereabouts were unknown until a photo surfaced online in January 2026 showing a man believed to be Johan at a luxury adults-only resort in Cancun, Mexico. The image shows him dressed in high-end designer clothing, appearing relaxed despite the ongoing international search. Johan’s background includes a troubled childhood, years in foster care and juvenile detention, and a lengthy prison sentence for armed robberies and firearm offences. After his release, he rebranded himself as a rapper, releasing music and videos that portrayed violent criminal themes. Several of his lyrics and visuals have since been scrutinised due to their similarity to real-world violence. The motive for Acherkouk’s killing remains unclear, including whether the shooters were hired or acting on their own. No arrests have been made, and there have been no confirmed sightings since the Mexico photo emerged. Authorities continue working with international partners as they pursue Johan in connection with the brazen gangland killing.
