Malacañan Palace March 3, 2026 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and President Lee Jae Myung of the Republic of Korea (ROK) witnessed the exchange and presentation of signed agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations. Several Cabinet members and their South Korean counterparts exchanged the following 10 key agreements: • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Ministry of Science and ICT on Digital Cooperation; • MOU between the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Technology, Digitalization, and Innovation Program; • Amendment Number 2 to the Implementing Arrangement (IA) between the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration concerning the procurement of certain defense materials; • MOU on Cooperation in the Field of Patriots and Veterans Affairs between the DND and the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs; • MOU between the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture; • MOU between the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Resources on Trade, Investment, and Economic Cooperation; • MOU between the DTI and the Ministry of Intellectual Property for Reinforced Cooperation in the Field of Intellectual Property; • MOU on Cooperation on the Special Program in Foreign Language in Philippine Schools between the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Ministry of Education; • MOU on Cultural Cooperation between the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; • MOU between the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Korean National Police Agency on Police Cooperation; During a joint press statement, President Marcos Jr. and President Lee highlighted that the signed agreements will continue to drive the momentum of bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both the Filipino and Korean peoples. The Philippines and the ROK elevated bilateral relations to a strategic partnership in 2024, paving the way for deeper cooperation in areas of mutual interest and shared priorities.
