Mt Misen Ropeway, Miyajima Sunset (4K)

Offering panoramic views of Hiroshima and the island-filled bay, Mt Misen can be tackled in a few different ways - three different marked trails leave from various parts of Miyajima town, with variying difficulties, or, if you feel less inclined to make the trek up, there is a ropeway a short walk from the ferry terminal. Usefully, when approaching the ropeway, there are posters on the railings that indicate how long you may be waiting based on the length of the line. However what is lacking is any sort of live feed from the top to see how many people are already up there waiting to come down... with the final car leaving the summit station at 16.30 but no indication of how many are already in line, you can find yourself practically guaranteed to have to walk down - and once you are up there, they remind you of that fact every 5 or so minutes at extremely high volume! In my case, that was always my likely option anyway (originally I was going to walk up one way, and down another, but I had already racked up a reasonable step count today since Iwakuni in the morning!) but as I made my descent I came across an older couple who originally had planned to make the climb, and then descend by ropeway... I could only recommend to them that they turn around before it started to get too dark, because they would only have to walk back anyway, and the trail conditions are not suitable to low light.
