‘Illegal fees at Eastern Cape no-fee schools’

Parents at several schools in the Eastern Cape say they are being forced to pay unlawful fees for admissions and report cards at no-fee schools. This follows communication from some school principals warning that parents with outstanding payments will not receive their children’s reports. Meanwhile, the Education Department has reiterated that this practice is illegal and confirmed that principals have been cautioned. Newzroom Afrika’s Liyema Vumisa has more.
