Description

Before you ask… yes, we actually went back. Apparently hiking several miles into the middle of nowhere just to decide something is impossible wasn’t enough punishment the first time. After spending way too much time staring at this rolled-over Jeep from the opposite side of the canyon, David and I came up with what can only be described as either an incredibly clever recovery plan… or the kind of idea that gets you featured in a safety training video. Armed with my 1954 Willys Wagon, a pile of Yankum Ropes recovery gear, a Harbor Freight jump pack that somehow refused to quit, and a level of confidence that probably wasn’t backed by good decision making, we spent an entire day crawling through terrain that had absolutely no business having a vehicle on it. Every move had consequences, every anchor mattered, and at several points I was pretty sure we’d be hiking back out carrying our dignity instead of recovering a Jeep. Against all odds—and probably against the advice of several people watching from home—we actually pulled it off. The sketchiest recovery method I’ve ever attempted somehow turned into one of the most rewarding recoveries I’ve ever completed. Huge thanks to Yankum Ropes for building recovery gear we were willing to trust in a situation like this, and thanks to Harbor Freight for making a jump pack that just wouldn’t quit. Most importantly, thank you for watching these videos. Your support is what allows us to spend days chasing ridiculous recoveries like this instead of making sensible life choices. I appreciate every view, every like, every comment, and everyone who tags along for these adventures. Now grab a drink, ignore the comments telling me how they would’ve done it from the comfort of their recliner, and let’s go recover a Jeep everyone—including us—thought was impossible. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Support the companies that support us!
