Description

During Easter 2024, Steam Incorporated's Da 1431 now in its more modern TMS guise as 'DA 345', hauled another series of South Island excursion trains with Pounamu Tourism Group. On Good Friday, it took part in hauling the southbound leg of 'The Whale Train' from Picton to Christchurch, which we capture at the Weka Pass Railway's depot in Waipara with Di 1102 & De 512 from the Diesel Traction Group on display. Over the weekend, the DA ran two return excursions from Christchurch to Arthur's Pass titled 'The Mountaineer', before returning north to Picton on Easter Monday with the northbound leg of 'The Whale Train'. Da 1431 has been temporarily been re-numbered to 345 for fun by the Steam Incorporated as the locomotive is due for a repaint later this year once returned to Paekakariki, enjoy!
