UH softball splits Saturday doubleheader

The University of Hawai‘i softball team closed out the Outrigger Classic on Saturday with a doubleheader split at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. In the opener against Portland State, Jamie McGauhey went 2 for 3 with a double and a home run, but the Vikings rallied late to hand Hawai‘i a 5-4 loss. The Rainbow Wahine bounced back in Game 2, defeating Mercyhurst University 7-5. Rhea Furtado led the way, going 3 for 4 at the plate. The Kapa‘a graduate finished the day a combined 5 for 8 with three runs scored across both games.
