Signing and Presentation of Agreements and Joint Press Statement (Speech)

Malacañan Palace May 11, 2026 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and President Santiago Peña Palacios of the Republic of Paraguay witnessed the signing and presentation of agreements at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace. During the ceremony, both leaders welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Mutual Cooperation in the Field of Diplomatic Training and the Visa Waiver Agreement for Ordinary Passport Holders of the Philippines and Paraguay. Another agreement to be signed today is the MOU between the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and Paraguay’s Investment and Export Network (REDIEX), regarded as a pivotal step in establishing contacts between Philippine and Paraguayan companies. “I am actually very optimistic in that in our discussion earlier, what came out was a remarkable parallel in the way that our countries are developing ourselves and how we view our countries, the Philippines views itself as a gateway to Asia and Paraguay a gateway to Latin America,” stated President Marcos Jr. during the joint press statement.
