Description
Cynthia Ann Stephanie “Cyndi” Lauper (born June 22, 1953), is an American singer, songwriter, actress and LGBTQ+ advocate whose debut album “She’s So Unusual” (1983) made her a global pop icon. Her ballad “Time After Time”, released March 1984, was written with Rob Hyman and inspired by their personal emotional struggles and a sci‑fi film’s title seen in TV Guide. It became her first U.S. No. 1 hit. It also reached #1 in Canada, peaked at #3 in the UK and New Zealand, #5 in Austria, #6 in Germany and Australia, #7 in Switzerland, #9 in France, and #10 in Sweden. Other hits were her breakout single “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” (1983), an anthem of female empowerment, “She Bop”, “All Through the Night”, “True Colors”, “I Drove All Night” and “Change of Heart”. This live performance was recorded for the World Liberty Concert, a large-scale event held on May 8, 1995, in Arnhem to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Europe. The concert took place at the John Frost Bridge.
