While she is a master of straight-razor shaves and classic haircuts, I decided to ask for her specialty deep ear cleaning: a Chinese ear picking. There is something so special about these "house barbers" and "street barbers" that offer a glimpse into the real, rural Thailand that most travelers never get to see. ​It’s a beautiful, serene day, and I’m so happy to be joined on this adventure by my mother, Carla, and Noochi Bua. The atmosphere here is incredibly peaceful; you can hear the tropical birds chirping in the background and feel the gentle jungle breeze. It is the ultimate setting for the kind of pampering I live for. Watching this skilled barber work in such a humble, traditional environment is a reminder of the beauty found in local craftsmanship and the slow pace of countryside life. ​For just 90 cents, the level of care and precision she gives is absolutely mind-blowing. The entire experience was so therapeutic and relaxing that I felt completely at peace as she meticulously cleaned my ears with her traditional tools. It’s simple, it’s satisfying, and it’s a form of self-care that feels both ancient and essential.
