Fort Worth police give away free gas as prices climb, leaving drivers stunned

With U.S. gas prices topping $4 a gallon and Texas averages jumping 10 cents overnight, some Fort Worth drivers got an unexpected break Wednesday. The Fort Worth Police Department teamed up with Fort Worth Metro to hand out free fuel — an “April Fuels Day” surprise that left many motorists skeptical at first but relieved to learn it wasn’t a prank.
