Kikko Park & Shrine, Iwakuni (4K)

After crossing the Kintaikyo bridge there is a short walk to the Iwakuni castle ropeway through Kikko Park, which has interesting sculptures and fountains (not yet operating this early in the morning). However if you go just slightly out of your way, you can also enjoy the serenity of the Kikko Shrine and Temple complex, and the nearby Iris gardens. Unfortunately the peace was broken somewhat by the workers blowing the leaves around, but that is one of the trade-offs in arriving early in the day - you beat the crowds, but encounter the maintenance!
