Description

The first new units of shelter since Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson took office were previewed Sunday in Interbay, in Wilson's first step toward reaching her goal of 1,000 added shelter beds during her inaugural year in city hall. The mayor, joined by other city and non-profit leaders, hosted an opening ceremony for the Bayside Enhanced Shelter on W Armory Way Sunday afternoon. As of now, the site includes 50 single-adult pallet home units that will operate as 24/7 transitional housing with wraparound services for people coming out of chronic homelessness, according to the city. The total number of units will jump to 75 by the end of the month. People will have access to behavioral health support for addiction and recovery, but Wilson said using those services is not required to live on-site. -------------------------------------------------- For more on the story: https://komonews.com/news/local/first-new-shelter-units-under-seattle-mayor-wilson-open-in-interbay-homeless-houseless-services-mental-health-addiction-camping-resources-fifa-world-cup-summer _______________ #komo #komonews #komo4 #komo4news #seattle #seattlenews #washingtonnews
