Description
A livestreamer known online as “Chud the Builder” is facing attempted murder and other felony charges after authorities said a confrontation outside the Montgomery County Courthouse escalated into a shooting.
Dalton Eatherly, 28, was arrested Wednesday following the shooting outside the courthouse at 2 Millennium Plaza in Clarksville, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee District Attorney General’s Office.
Clarissa Greaves works at coffee shop nearby .
"I heard the gunfire and looked up and everyone in the cafes, everyone's heads turned," said Greaves.
She said she saw the aftermath unfold through the coffee shop window.
"Pretty, pretty scary.," said Greaves. "His (Eatherly's) arm was all patched up and it had like some blood and stuff and he was getting wheeled into the ambulance."
Deputies and Clarksville Police officers responded around 1:20 p.m. to reports of gunfire outside the courthouse. Investigators said an altercation between Eatherly and an unidentified man turned violent, which they said resulted in an exchange of gunfire.
Both men suffered gunshot wounds.
One man was taken to Vanderbilt of Clarksville Hospital for treatment, while the other was flown by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Authorities said both are in stable condition.
The sheriff’s office said Eatherly was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and employing a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Investigators have not publicly identified the second man involved in the shooting and have not said what sparked the confrontation or whether both men were armed.
The shooting came just days after Eatherly was arrested in Nashville following a disturbance at Bob’s Steak & Chop House.
According to an arrest affidavit filed by Metro Nashville Police, restaurant staff had asked Eatherly not to livestream inside the business.
Police said employees later discovered he continued livestreaming and asked him to stop.
Investigators said Eatherly became disruptive, yelling, screaming, and making racial comments inside the restaurant. Officers said he then refused to pay a $371.55 tab that included entrees, appetizers, and drinks.
He was charged with theft of services under $1,000 and disorderly conduct. Court records show he was released on a $5,000 bond.
Greaves said she is not surprised things escalated to what she saw Thursday, considering Eatherly's reputation.
"I think it was kind of bound to happen," she said.
Eatherly currently has a social media following based on livestream videos, some of which he films, and confrontations with strangers in public places.
As of Thursday morning, Eatherly is still at Montgomery County Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment, at which time bond will be set.
He has an upcoming court hearing on Friday, May 15.
