You fill a glass vial with rubbing alcohol or water and glycerin, add in some food coloring and mica powder, give it a shake, and a color changing swirling storm appears inside. The problem is that this effect only lasts for a few seconds and we want the magic in our witch's potions to last forever. Grandin Road, Home Depot, and Target all sell animated crystal balls that have an automatic swirling motion, so we took our inspiration from these. The effect is surprisingly easy to create, and in this video we will teach you how to make your own swirling potion bottles. The mechanism is hidden inside an ancient spellbook.
