RB Leipzig and Kevin Kampl have mutually agreed to terminate his contract early on January 31, 2026. The 35-year-old had expressed his wish to leave for family reasons, and RB Leipzig has agreed to this. “Kevko” joined the Red Bulls from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the summer of 2017 and developed into a key figure at the club over the following eight and a half years. The former Slovenian international was a central pillar in midfield for many seasons, took on responsibility within the team and grew to become one of RB Leipzig's most recognizable figures. The Solingen-born player made a total of 283 competitive appearances for the Red Bulls, making him the sixth most capped player in an RBL shirt. The midfielder scored 13 goals and provided 23 assists. Highlights include reaching the Champions League semi-finals, winning the DFB Cup in 2022 and 2023, and winning the Super Cup in 2023. Kevin Kampl will be given a worthy send-off at the home game against FC Bayern on January 17.
