Jabariya Jodi (2019) is an Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra. The story is based upon the tradition of groom kidnapping, prevalent in Bihar. The film is produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh R Singh, and directed by Prashant Singh. The film is based on the real-life practice of Pakdua Vivah (forced marriage), where grooms are kidnapped to avoid heavy dowry demands. The story follows Abhay Singh (Sidharth Malhotra), a charismatic thug who specializes in kidnapping greedy grooms. He views his work as a "social service," believing he is helping families who can't afford dowries. However, things get complicated when his childhood sweetheart, Babli Yadav (Parineeti Chopra), re-enters his life. Babli is a fiery, independent woman who isn't afraid to take matters into her own hands—even if it means kidnapping Abhay himself to get him to the altar.
