Mortgage rates edged down to 6.36% for the week ending May 14, a slight retreat from 6.37% the prior week, even as April inflation hit 3.8%, the highest level in three years, driven by surging oil prices from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, according to Freddie Mac.
