A Convicted Teacher Was Beaten to Death in a Cathedral

Marcelo Fabián Pecollo was a music teacher in Argentina whose life took a dark turn after multiple young students accused him of inappropriate conduct. Though convicted in only one case and released after serving a reduced sentence, his name remained a lightning rod for public outrage. Years later, while playing trumpet with a local orchestra inside a cathedral, his past followed him into the church. A group of adults stormed the service, accusing him publicly and blocking his escape. The mob beat him violently, even using his own trumpet as a weapon, before fleeing the scene. Pecollo was left unconscious and slipped into a coma. After a month in the hospital, he died from his injuries. Despite eyewitnesses, no one was ever arrested.
