BOB the SUMB let me down !! 😮

BOB has undergone a transformation over the last year and I'm currently still in the post "Restoration" testing stage..... getting confidence up to do longer and longer drives. Today I changed the Engine Oil and Filter.... I did put new oil / filter in last June when I purchased him. Thought it prudent to get some fresh oil in there now he's running well. Did about 6 miles and heading home he suddenly lost power and came to a halt... up a hill and on a very nasty sharp bend.. I managed to get him half on the pavement but not ideal. Luckily I had a old Warning Triangle with me... just in case. I ran down the road and placed the Triangle.... cars were flying round the bend. Called Linda asked her to come and pick me up. Took the Cab engine cover off and could see the glass fuel bowl was empty... no fuel !! Fuel gauge showing half full !! maybe it was faulty. Attempted a start... and he fired up !! got to the top of the hill.... and into a side road as per the video. Ran back down the road and recovered the warning triangle. Linda arrive ... we headed home... got a 20L jerry can... petrol station and back to BOB. Put the fuel in and fired him up.... new it was ok as I could see the fuel bowl was full! Got home and checked the fuel level in the tank with a stick... very full... so did not run out of fuel ??? Dropped the stick in the fuel tank... spent 1 hour getting it out !!! My theory..... very hot day... fuel pipes and electric fuel pump near to exhaust manifold and engine... I suspect it was a vapour lock... Hot fuel vaporised in the line / pump and caused the fuel starvation. It cooled slightly on the Hill allowing me to move again.
