I saw penguins from my balcony!

Today I woke up to penguins outside my balcony! We arrived at Macquarie Island after 5 days at sea and I can’t remember a time when I’ve been happier to see land. Not because of the sea days, but the proximity to this natural wonders meant an abundance of wildlife had returned around the ship. Countless seabirds guided us into the island, and we started seeing king and royal penguins in the water a few hours before we saw land. This island is an absolute gem and probably the most wildlife rich place I’ve ever been. We saw three penguin species which helped tick a few more off my penguin bingo card. This little are has fast become one of my favourite places on the planet.
