Description
A lot of people donât realize this, but my Ram 2500 Power Wagon actually has BOTH a limited slip differential and a locking differential â in the same axle.
With the differential cover off, I show you exactly how this works. You can see the crown gear and the helical gears inside the limited slip, and then I demonstrate how the locker mechanically locks both axle shafts together when itâs engaged. When you spin the wheels, you can literally watch the difference between limited slip operation and full lock.
This setup gives you the best of both worlds: smooth, automatic traction from the limited slip during normal driving, and full, guaranteed traction when you lock the diff for off-road, snow, or ice. Itâs one of the most underrated features of the Power Wagon, and honestly one of its best-kept secrets.
If youâve ever wondered how Ram manages traction so well in these trucks â or if you thought you had to choose between a limited slip OR a locker â this video explains it clearly.
