Rooted in the words of the celebrated Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, the work unfolds as a deeply expressive musical landscape. From its opening moments, the piece reveals a strong visual and emotional imagination. Subtle echoes of sirens, distant human voices, and cries that seem to surface and disappear are woven into the musical fabric. The strings lean into tension and dissonance, as a reflection of the dissonance of our fractured present. The work was conceived for the immediacy of live performance. The music lives in the shared air between performers and audience, shaped by breath, vulnerability, and the unrepeatable nature of a single moment in time. ‘We Love Life’ is dedicated to the victims and survivors of the genocide in Gaza. It reflects on loss without surrendering to despair, and on beauty without denying pain. ‘We Love Life’ ultimately stands as a musical meditation on dignity, courage, and the enduring human impulse toward love and meaning; and in that it’s universal. Even in darkness, the music suggests, something within us continues to choose life, love, and the possibility of hope.
