Description

Eduardo Granados dreamed of playing professionally for Mexico. That dream ended abruptly at 15, when a back condition forced him to find another way to be close to the game. "I wanted to find another way to be involved and experience the atmosphere of the FIFA World Cup," he said. He found it as a volunteer at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico and still keeps the accreditation badge from that tournament 40 years later. Now Eduardo is back, wearing the green volunteer uniform once again for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ in Guadalajara, this time helping fans with disabilities and reduced mobility find their way around the stadium with dignity and a smile. He has been named Guadalajara's FIFA World Cup 2026 Unsung Hero, in recognition of a journey spanning four decades between two tournaments on home soil. "I'm grateful to FIFA for giving me another opportunity to experience a FIFA World Cup," he said.
