Description

After three days in Tofino, we made our way back toward Vancouver, well, technically Caulfield, a quiet seaside neighborhood in West Vancouver. Our cozy carriage house Airbnb sat right across from the water, the perfect spot to rest, reset… and apparently, become obsessed with hummingbirds. They were everywhere, darting through the garden, hovering at flowers, flashing bright greens and reds in the morning light. Andy loved them so much we're now planning trips to Costa Rica and Ecuador just to photograph more! But rest didn’t last long. I found a local dive shop called Sea Dragon Charters that runs snorkelling trips with harbour seals, and there was no way we could skip that. The weather was unreal, sunny and glassy calm, not the grey skies I expected from British Columbia. About 30 minutes from Horseshoe Bay, we reached the seal colony: dozens of seals lounging on the rocks. Once we slipped into the 12°C water, they grew curious, circling, tugging fins, even giving little leg hugs. It turned out to be the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure before heading to the star destination of our trip. 📍 Location: West Vancouver, BC 🚤 Operator: Sea Dragon Charters
