Description
Watch part 2 here: https://youtu.be/07oNgiMARz0
Where we grow up, or eventually settle down, is our home. Nature is constantly changing, but it is us humans who leave the greatest mark on it. We create, destroy, protect, and shape - more than any law of nature - our homeland. In recent times, man has also had an impact in the natural world in places where no one would expect it at all. Can the native animals and plants keep up? Why do so many extinct species return on the one hand? Why do so many become extinct on the other hand? What is the state of our homeland´s nature?
Global warming is affecting the ice of the glaciers and the animal and plant species of the high mountains. Glaciers like the Schneeferner on the Zugspitze are disappearing almost as if in fast motion. Cold-loving alpine inhabitants are moving upwards, away from the warmth of the lowlands. But if it has become too warm for the species even on the top of the mountain peaks, their time in our latitudes could be over.
Animals that were rare or had been extinct are living in our forests again. Others are in danger of disappearing. And the forest itself is suffering, too. Perhaps the most popular and important habitat of the Germans has many faces! It is always the diversity of structures that makes a forest ecologically valuable: clearings, deadwood, small bodies of water.... All this increases the much-vaunted biodiversity, the variety of life.
The film is both an inventory and a declaration of love for our native nature.
