Media Briefing: Officer-Involved Shooting at 5400 Airline Dr. I Houston Police

Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu briefs the media on an officer-involved shooting in the 5400 block of Airline Drive. Preliminary information: On Saturday, April 11th at approximately 1:10 am, an HPD sergeant conducted a traffic stop at the above address. The driver pulled into a parking lot and exited the vehicle he was driving and attempted to walk away. The sergeant approached and attempted to detain the driver, who resisted and initiated a physical altercation. The two fell to the ground in a struggle. The sergeant discharged his duty weapon. The suspect ran from the scene and was located nearby with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid until paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
