Attempting To Fix The Dead Porsche Macan That Porsche Said Needed A New Battery

This is Part 2 of our dead 2025 Porsche Macan EV repair — and this time, things get even more complicated. In Part 1, we tried to bring this crash-damaged Macan EV back to life after discovering the pyrofuse had blown inside the high-voltage battery system. But after making a custom solution, we realised the real issue was much deeper: the crash data inside the battery control unit / BMS was permanent and couldn’t be cleared. Porsche initially suggested the full battery may need replacing, but after digging through parts catalogues, software, coding and high-voltage diagnostics, we found the safety box / battery isolator was available separately — including the pyrofuse and control unit. But fitting the part was only the beginning… The new BMS needed programming, battery serial number coding, secure gateway unlocking, Porsche dealer software, cooling system bleeding, AC testing and road testing — and just when the Macan finally came back to life, a software update nearly bricked it again.
