Developed by Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare 4 marks a new chapter for the studio with the grounded, authentic, high-stakes military action Modern Warfare is known for. Players can expect the edge and intensity that define Modern Warfare, delivered with a renewed focus on authenticity and immersion across Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ. DMZ is a full-featured extraction experience with a new large map, multiple mission entry paths, stealth/world reactivity, crafting and base progression, and a PvP bounty ecosystem. The mode includes story missions (with matchmaking into squads on the same mission), randomized-step “dynamic operations,” and open-ended free roam—coexisting in the same world. The new map Hajin was framed around a nuclear reactor meltdown incident, environmental storytelling, radiation/pollution, and a living world with convoys/air traffic and escalating AI threats including heavy vehicles and elite enemies. Systems highlighted: stealth meter affecting reinforcements, dynamic weather that intensifies, a forward operating base hub (3D printer crafting, gunsmith via cash, vendor), and an MIA system allowing recovery of a lost operator via paying cash. PvP rewards include an auto-escalating bounty placed on high-kill players, “wanted” status enabling bounty hunters to locate targets, plus weekly global and friends leaderboards for top hunters/killers.
