The incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. local time on Sunday in Loikaw township, Kayah state, the department said. Local fire service personnel conducted search and rescue operations after receiving reports of the drowning, it said. The deceased were two males and one female, it said, adding that the bodies were later transported to Loikaw General Hospital.
