Materials: egg, vinegar, jar, lid or cling wrap Science: The acid in the vinegar reacts with the calcium in the eggshell and forms carbon dioxide (all the bubbles you see on the surface of the shell). This reaction causes the eggshell to slowly dissolve away leaving you with a rubbery egg! Additionally, the egg gets a little bigger after soaking in the vinegar through a process called osmosis - water from the vinegar moves into the egg causing it to swell.
