Short Story : Senior Inspector Ranjit Thakur investigates a horrendous case of murder and female infanticide in Nashik, Maharashtra. Shagun is from a poor household, has a younger sister, Avni and a younger brother Pratik. She is married to Rishi who belongs to a wealthy family who help her financially to continue her mother's cancer treatment. Pratik is an understanding brother who does a small job. Avni's in-laws make Shagun undergo three abortions in 1.5 years because of bearing a girl child. While Rishi is in Delhi, Shagun feels that someone frequents her room at night. She tells Rishi but he ignores it. Soon, she's pregnant with a boy and tries to abort it on realising that it's not Rishi's baby. The doctor reports to her family and they force her to come home. Shagun calls Pratik in a state of panic and asks him to to come to the police station but gets murdered. The Police finds out that Shagun was drugged and raped by her father-in-law in order to have a male child as an heir. She was suspicious of i and was trying to find out the truth. A man from Mumbai would enwuire about Shagun at a nearby medical store. Later on, the police finds out that Shagun went to Mumbai for a job but strangely returned back in just two months. Shagun's sister, Avni, had an extravagant lifestyles as compared to the financial stability of her family. Rishi's family asks the maid to take a leave to make sure of no suspicions on them. Avni was working as a pleasure giver online and earned lakhs of money by blackmailing her clients and threatening them.
