Description

Cape Cross early in the morning on a misty day. Under these harsh, low-visibility conditions, it is a miracle how our rescuers even manage to spot entanglements. especially when the culprit is a thin, clear plastic zip-lock bag with nothing but a bright blue strip on top. Unlike flimsy plastic shopping bags, these zip-lock bags are not meant to be single-use. They can be washed, reused, and kept out of our ecosystems over and over again. So how did this one end up in the ocean? Was the person who threw it away aware that the rigid zip track, or the bag itself, can easily turn into a permanent plastic noose? By now, every child learns in school that we must not litter. It is incredibly frustrating that self-proclaimed promises to "do better" are failing our planet. Asking nicely has not worked. We need strict enforcement and real legal consequences for the people and companies responsible for this pollution. Until that happens, we will keep patrolling the mist to save these innocent lives. 🦭 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Please visit our website to find out more about our work and how to support us: ➡ Website: https://www.ocnamibia.org/ ➡ Donate via Paypal: https://ow.ly/BTm550PIavq ➡ Donate via Stripe: https://ow.ly/Xy1F50PIMzQ ➡ Support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/OCN ➡ FAQs: https://www.ocnamibia.org/faqs Follow us on social media: ➡ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oceanconservationnamibia/ ➡ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OCNamibia ➡ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@oc_namibia ➡ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/ocnamibia/ ➡ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ocnamibia 😊 Thank you for every like, share, comment and subscribe 😊 Ocean Conservation International is registered as a non-profit organisation under chapter 501(c)3.
