Whangaroa Harbour

I'm just gonna say this up front. For some reason this painting wasn't hitting it for me when I finished. But it is important to draw the positive from all of our work, right? Sometimes I will stick with something I deem to be a failure, because I know I will ultimately learn a lesson. See it through and remain open. I'm sharing this with you because I want you to know not everything is a home run for me. Far from it. Here were some positives. I was happy with the handling of the tonal values. Also, the colours came out okay for the transition from yellow to orange through to cool violet greys in the sky. In the end it turned out to be something that has potential for a bigger piece. It now sits proudly on my parents-in laws' wall.
