Chemo at the edge of the world. 🌎

This is the story of Dana Bellis, or Jaad Gudangaa ‘laas of the Yahgu Laanaas Raven Clan, who was a caregiver for her mother through pancreatic cancer on Haida Gwaii. In May, she travelled from her home on these remote islands on Canada’s west coast to the @iarcwho conference in Lyon, France to share her story, help build capacity around rural, remote, and Indigenous cancer care within the international cancer research community, and bring these learnings home. Patient partners like Dana are essential because they bring lived experience and a unique ability to translate between worlds, helping ensure cancer care and support services are relevant to the communities they aim to serve.
