Description
The Porsche 911 GT3 has been a high watermark for driving joy since the nameplate first made its way onto a road car in 1999. The latest ‘992.2’ generation takes the recipe launched in the 992-gen car with first-time double-wishbone front suspension and refines the recipe further towards perfection.
With the same 4.0-litre, naturally-aspirated flat six, the new GT3 doesn’t make any more power (375kW) and torque is down 20Nm, thanks to emissions equipment. But, Porsche GT department boffins have offset this with some old-school engine fettling and a shorter final-drive ratio.
In this video, road test editor John Law takes the 911 GT3 with Weissach Package and six-speed manual transmission — optioned up from $446,700 to $574,680 before on-road costs — out for a proper test on the racetrack and some particularly testing Australian roads.
