Description

This was supposed to be a simple upgrade for the Megabore lathe… but it didn’t take long for us to realise this wasn’t going to work out. The plan was to remove the standard tool post, remove the top slide, and see what would be involved in mounting the new Multifix quick change tool post properly. Up until that point, it was still a genuine option. But once everything was apart and the top slide was on the bench, the test fit told a different story. It quickly became clear that this tool post was not going to be the right fit for a lathe this size. Between the lack of size, reduced tool support, and how inefficient it would be to use with tooling that heavy, it was obvious this was not the right way forward. It’s back to the standard tool post and we’ll have to find another solution in the future. Join our channel: We upload new videos every Friday at 5pm AEST!
