Strong El Niño incoming: What NZ can expect this winter & spring

A potentially strong El Niño weather system is on the way this winter, and forecasters say it could have a significant impact on conditions right across New Zealand. Scientists at Earth Sciences New Zealand say there is now a clear consensus across global climate models, with around a 60 percent chance the system will be classified as strong by spring, and the potential for it to intensify further later in the year.
